Day 1: When You Feel Forgotten
Reading: Psalm 63:1-8
Devotional: David wrote this psalm from a dry and weary wilderness, and yet his words overflow with longing and trust. He was not writing from a place of comfort. He was writing from a place of desperation. Joseph knew that same wilderness. Years passed in a prison cell while heaven seemed silent. But silence is not absence. God's not remembering you is not the same as God forgetting you. The Hebrew word zakar, meaning God remembers, always signals that God is about to move on a promise already made. Your wilderness has not disqualified you from his attention. It has positioned you for his faithfulness.
Reflection: Where in your life does God feel absent? Write down one promise from Scripture that you are choosing to hold onto today, even when you cannot feel his nearness.

Day 2: Faithful in the Dark
Reading: Genesis 39:20-23
Devotional: Joseph did not wait until his circumstances improved before he decided to be faithful. He was faithful in Potiphar's house, and when that was taken from him, he was faithful on the prison floor. He could not change his address, but he could still choose his posture. The Lord's presence did not depend on Joseph's location. It depended on God's covenant. Many of us are waiting for better conditions before we fully commit to serving God where we are. But faithfulness is not a reward for favorable circumstances. It is a decision made in the dark, long before the light comes on.
Reflection: What area of your life have you been withholding faithfulness from God while you wait for things to improve? What would it look like to serve him fully right where you are today?

Day 3: The Hard Years Were Not Wasted
Reading: Psalm 105:16-19
Devotional: The psalmist tells us plainly that God summoned the famine. He was not reacting to a crisis. He was orchestrating a rescue. Before the famine arrived, God had already sent the man. Joseph was in place before the need ever surfaced. Every pit, every false accusation, every forgotten promise from the cupbearer was a road that led directly to the palace and ultimately to the preservation of a promise God made to Abraham generations earlier. What looks like wasted years from the bottom of a prison cell looks entirely different from the vantage point of eternity. God wastes nothing, not even your pain.
Reflection: Think of a difficult season in your life that you have written off as wasted time. Ask God to show you how he may have been working in it, even when you could not see him.

Day 4: It Is Not in Me
Reading: Genesis 41:15-16, Daniel 2:27-28
Devotional: When Pharaoh told Joseph that he had heard Joseph could interpret dreams, Joseph's response was immediate and striking. He said it is not in me. Thirteen years of hardship had not produced a man eager to take credit. They had produced a man who knew exactly where his gifts came from. Four times in Genesis 41, Joseph redirected glory back to God. Daniel would later stand before another king in another empire and say nearly the same thing. Suffering, when surrendered to God, has a way of burning away the pride that would otherwise steal the glory that belongs to him alone.
Reflection: Is there an area of gifting or success in your life where you have been slow to acknowledge God as the source? Take time today to surrender that area back to him in prayer.

Day 5: Carriers of the Promise
Reading: Galatians 3:26-29, Hebrews 11:22
Devotional: Joseph died without seeing the full fruit of what God had done through him. On his deathbed, he gave instructions about his bones, trusting that God would one day bring his people home from Egypt. He was not holding onto a palace. He was holding onto a promise. Hebrews 11 honors him not for the ring or the chariot, but for that final act of faith. If you belong to Jesus, you are a carrier of the same promise that ran through Abraham, through Joseph, through Judah, and ultimately through the cross. You are not waiting on the sidelines of God's story. You are woven into it.
Reflection: How does knowing that you are an heir to God's covenant promise change the way you view your current season of waiting or suffering? Write a prayer of surrender, trusting God to weave your story into his.
