5-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional Guide 
Based on "Living in Two Camps" | Christ Sanctuary Church 
 
Day 1: Recognizing the Two Realms 
Reading: Genesis 32:1-8 
Devotional: Jacob's journey home was not simply a physical one. It was a spiritual reckoning. When he encountered angels at Mahanaim, he named the place "two camps," recognizing that both the seen and unseen realms were active in his life. Many believers live as though only the natural world is real, carrying every burden alone. But Scripture consistently reminds us that God is at work in what we cannot see. Your circumstances do not tell the whole story. The spiritual camp is active, and God is present in it. Ask yourself today: am I living with awareness of both realities? 
 
Day 2: Facing Conflict With Humility 
Reading: Genesis 32:9-12 
Devotional: When Esau approached with 400 men, Jacob did not run and he did not rage. He prayed. His prayer is remarkable in its structure. He began not with his need but with God's character, acknowledging the God of his fathers and confessing his own unworthiness. He chose to focus not on the trial before him but on the blessings already behind him. Humility in conflict is rare. It requires a deliberate choice to set your eyes on God's goodness rather than your circumstances. Today, before you address what is in front of you, pause and acknowledge what God has already done. 
 
Day 3: Prayer That Carries the Weight 
Reading: Philippians 4:6-7 
Devotional: Philippians 4:6-7 describes the kind of anxiety that becomes sinful when it weighs the heart down because it carries burdens as though everything depends on us alone. The antidote is not willpower but prayer, offered with thanksgiving and supplication. The promise is not that you will receive everything you ask for, but that the peace of God, which goes beyond human understanding, will stand guard over your heart and mind. That peace is not passive. It is active protection. When you bring your burdens to God in genuine faith and thanksgiving, you are not left empty. You are left guarded. 
 
Day 4: Holding Fast to God's Word 
Reading: Psalm 55:22; Hebrews 11:1 
Devotional: Jacob's prayer in Genesis 32 was anchored in something specific. He reminded God of what God had said. He was not manipulating God. He was aligning himself with the promises already spoken over his life. Psalm 55:22 assures us that when we cast our burden on the Lord, He will sustain us. Faith is not a feeling. It is a decision to take God at His word and place the outcome on His shoulders. Where are you trying to carry what God has already promised to carry for you? Open His word today. Find the promise that speaks to your situation and hold it firmly. 
 
Day 5: Stepping Out in Obedience 
Reading: Genesis 32:13-21; Romans 8:28 
Devotional: After Jacob prayed, he got up and acted. He did not panic, and he did not do nothing. He moved forward in obedience, doing what he could while trusting God to do what only God could do. This is the life of faith in its most practical form. Romans 8:28 assures us that God is working all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. You may not see the full picture. You may not know how it ends. But you are called to step out in your weakness and step into His wonders. Move forward today.
